My daddy told me I could get a new car .... now what do you suggest. I do not want a 35,000 dollar car or a gas guzzler .. next semester I have to drive to LR for school and my car now uses half a tank to do that!! Give me your car preference, knowledge ... whatever!

I think you should go with a Toyota Avalon. A great mix of practical/luxury. Like a higher quality, better built, smoother riding Camry.
You could get a 2008-2010 for somewhere around 15K. Highway gas mileage is somewhere around 26-28mpg.
If you want to buy new (don't), then stick with the lower priced Camry. But I wouldn't rec buying new. Just don't.
I'm not a car salesman, but my Dad has been a car dealer for the past 22 years. I can't stand car dealers. lol.

No need to take the instant value hit that comes with driving a new car off the lot. BTW, it technically is not depreciation although many people call it that. I'll leave Bozz's feelings about Dad alone because this is the On Topic section.

My daddy bought me a used truck and made me look at it in the driveway for a couple of weeks. Just before I could actually drive, he gave it to his brother. I'm not bitter...no...not one little damned bit! Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Look into the maintenance costs on the hybrids. They used to be pretty high but I haven't checked lately. They definitely save on gas but they used to be a bitch to maintain. The biggest problem is usually the upfront cost so, if that is covered, you might do well there.
