Well, this is where we disagree. And fortunately for the Agent, there is no law against being disagreeable. In my view, you don't get to be a jerk, and then try to get someone in trouble for responding to you in the same way. What did you see in that video that makes her out to be a jerk? The badgering and loaded questioning that is reminiscent of Jim Leach talking to Steve is what did it for me. It's a trademark of these sneak videos. The recording never starts when the person doing the recording is acting like a damn fool. They wait until their human rights are trampled by The Man and then they slip out the phone. They turn on the recorder and then they start playing Matlock to try to get the other person to sound like they are admitting to doing something wrong.

I'm only going on the limited information in this story, but: The issue the agent had was with her wanting to take her water bottle on the plane. According to the story, she chugged (i.e., drank in its entirety) the bottle of water, or whatever the hell was in it. Exactly what threat remained at that point? Problem solved. She no longer had liquid to bring on the plane, and if it was something toxic, I'm quite sure her dead carcass could be put down on the baggage deck during the flight if necessary.
This is where the agent made a wrong turn. Instead of just thinking to himself, "What a little twat!" and letting her onto the plane, he decided to be a dick when it was totally unnecessary. If this is how the guy handles someone simply being a pain in the ass, he needs to find a different job, because he does not have the temperment for this one. How will he maintain a cool and clear head in a more serious situation if he can't even handle this woman without losing his cool?

You are assuming that the person in question acted like a damn fool. We do not know that this is the case from the video presented. For all we know, the TSA agent could have been the "damn fool".

I am assuming that she acted like a damn fool because of the attitude she displayed on the video. "So let me get this straight..." He should have kept his mouth shut at that point. What he did say was better than, "Yes, you condescending bitch. You have a shitty attitude." He may not have been right but he also was not alone. If one of his coworkers comes out on her side, I'll reconsider.

"It's okay to be a jerk, because the person in charge isn't allowed to do anything about it." That's like kids who decide to be jerks to the school janitor, because they know that he can't do anything back to them. Personally, i think that is a big part of what is wrong with society. We basically endorse and encourage people to act like idiots, simply because it's "Within their rights". Maybe, if as a society, we stopped tolerating everyone who wanted to act like a jerk, and started telling them "If you want to act like an asshole, whoever your dealing with will be well within their rights to make your day shitty in response"...then maybe people would get the hint, that it's NOT okay to be like that.

And since he's a "Trained Professional", I believe him over her. Sweet! We just solved the whole issue!!

Not entirely. Since I was not there, I cannot make a rational judgement over who was wrong and who was right. I can only go by what I saw. And there is not enough evidence to persuade me that the passenger was acting irrationally.

This wasn't combative, in the true sense of the word. Just having a discussion about the topic.

I mean, since we didn't see what happened before the video, we can't rule out the possibility that she walked up to him and made a threat...right?
