A 13-Year-Old Girl in Texas Steals Her Brother's Car To Meet Her 12-Year-Old Online Boyfriend in Kentucky
Here's yet another reminder that your children now have THOUSANDS of different ways to meet strangers on the Internet. So as exhausting and difficult as it sounds, you HAVE to keep on top of them.
--13-year-old Elizabeth Robinson of Cypress, Texas was playing the video game "Call of Duty: Black Ops" online through her Xbox, and met a 12-year-old boy named Dylan from Hodgenville, Kentucky.
--They'd fight in the game's missions, talk over headsets, and eventually they fell in LOVE. Ya know, as much as a 13-year-old and 12-year-old can.
--And last Wednesday, Elizabeth decided she was going to MEET Dylan in real life.
--So she stole her mom's debit card and her brother's CAR, and started driving the 900 or so miles from east Texas to northern Kentucky.
--Her parents and law enforcement officers tracked her down thanks to the debit card, and she was finally pulled over in Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday morning.
--That means a 13-YEAR-OLD girl managed to drive 800 miles, solo. Her parents say she's tall for her age, which is how she was able to use the pedals AND see. There's no word on how she became such a competent driver.
--Her dad headed to Nashville to meet her and for WHATEVER reason, decided to drive WITH her the rest of the way to Hodgenville so she could get the meeting with Dylan out of her system.
--When they got to Hodgenville, though, they couldn't find Dylan's house. So they drove back to Houston over the weekend.
--It looks like Elizabeth won't be facing any criminal charges for stealing the debit card or the car, or for underage driving.
