Emails obtained by the Los Angeles Times reveal concert promoters described Jackson as 'emotionally paralyzed' and 'riddled with self-loathing'.
New details on the late Michael Jackson emerge - in the form of e-mails. The e-mails suggest the king of pop was in much worse shape - emotionally and physically than previously thought.
“ … his concert promoter described him as, quote, emotionally paralyzed, a mess riddled with self-loathing and doubt. ... Interestingly the e-mails praised Conrad Murray, the doctor convicted in his death, calling him unbiased and ethical.” (HLN)
The Los Angeles Times obtained was first to obtain the e-mails. The paper says those working with Jackson on his comeback were realizing it might not work.
And many of the 250 pages of emails - were about his ability or inability to perform.
“They complained he missed rehearsals, was slow picking up routines and would have to lip-sync some of his signature numbers.”
And many of the emails were about Jackson’s abuse of drugs and alcohol. In an e-mail leading up to the announcement of the concerts, promoter Randy Phillips wrote,
"MJ is locked in his room drunk and despondent ... I (am) trying to sober him up."
Other e-mails called him a “basket-case” and in a “weakened and troubled state”. The emails will likely be used in two cases against entertainment company AEG set to go to trial next year. Lloyd’s of London, the shows insurers, have claimed that AEG didn’t accurately present Jackson’s health when seeking a $17.5 million insurance policy.
The other case - filed by Jackson’s heirs is a wrongful death suit. It claims AEG pressured Jackson into a 50-show tour despite knowing he was too weak to perform.
And the heirs are still waiting on their lump sums - according to the New York Daily News. Lawyers and money people have been sorting through MJ’s debts - but when its all sorted out - the payouts will be huge.
“On Michael’s orders, Prince, Paris and Blanket will each have to wait until they’re 21 to touch their riches — but by then they will land whopping regular handouts. They get lump sums at ages 30, 35 and 40, the trust states. Blanket could walk off with $250 million when he reaches the big 4-0.”
CNN reports a lawyer for Jackson's mother and a spokesman for his estate declined to comment on the e-mails reported in Los Angeles Times.
