A La Carte: Parkway Pointe to add The Albatross Look for THE ALBATROSS to open at the former site of NED KELLY’S STEAKHOUSE in Parkway Pointe. The golf-themed bar/restaurant/entertainment center at 3455 Freedom Drive is the creation of Carl Creviston of Rochester, owner of Alpha Tile. “I want it to be more of a destination,” he said. Shuffleboard, foosball, a golf simulator and other games will be available. He’s applied for a permit for video poker, and there will be a front parlor for that. There will be a party/meeting room, as well, in the 7,500-square-foot building. Remodeling has been going on for months. The menu will lean to the lighter, more healthful side — vegetarian items, salads and grilled meats. Lots of outdoor seating is being added. This is Creviston’s first restaurant, but he said he’s always had an interest in business. He and his wife, Taffy, have six children (from age 6 to 16), “so I’ve got to work a lot,” he said. He expects The Albatross to open in the fall. The Australian-themed Ned Kelly’s closed in January 2007 after a 10-year run. Creviston said he’s been asked why he located his restaurant in a shopping area that does not directly front a main thoroughfare. “There’s a lot of rooftops around here and not a lot of food choices in this vicinity. There’s Chatham, there’s Panther Creek. I see four hotels across the street and Target shoppers that need lunch,” he said. Not only is an albatross a large bird, in golf it’s a synonym for a double eagle, a term for three under par on an individual hole.
